TAIPEI 101 is protected throughout with a full team of professionally trained security staff on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days per year. To protect the people and assets of one of the world’s prestige buildings, TAIPEI 101 has installed one of the world’s most advanced, customized, integrated electronic security systems that are designed to provide constant control and monitoring of the Tower to help provide tenants and visitors with the knowledge that their safety is in good hands. The surveillance system has a total of 420 monitors and security facilities will effectively transmit real time security data of all main entrances, elevators and public/common areas through an optical cable network.

Visitor Access Kiosk System (VAKS)

Managing visitor information, VAKS integrates a visitor management server, a visitor pass machine, a visitor imaging system, an optical and mechanical revolving door, a computer operated by security personnel and a computer that monitors a visitor-operated computer.

First, the visitor contacts the tenant using a telephone at the side of the information desk. With tenant authorization, one will receive the proper permits to access the optically controlled gate. The system will take one’s picture while issuing the permits.

The system keeps a complete record and knows the number of visitors as well as the floors they are visiting. It eliminates the faults and hassles of traditional permit such as personal information leak. In addition, visitors are verified by the specific tenants, preventing unsolicited visitors and improve security.

Smartcard Access System

The elevators and entrance guarding of TAIPEI 101 Tower is electronically controlled by Smartcard Access system 24 hours a day. On site workers, persons without access card or false access card must be checked by the official personnel at the Information counter at Level 1 to confirm their identity only then shall they be allowed to gain accesses to the Tower in the visiting manner.

Passenger Elevator Security Mode

When a tenant or staff member enters the Tower after normal working hours and wants to access a floor, he/she must insert an access card into the VAKS card reader and proceed only to the particular floor to which he/she wish to access. Those without access cards need to enquire and register with the security guard at the information desk for visitors’ passes, and personnel from the tenant’s floor must come to the lobby to escort their visitors to their premises.

Usage of Elevators

Please note that construction personnel with tools, dollies or flat carts, or mail carts (UPS, Federal Express, etc.) are not permitted to transport via passenger elevators. The service elevators are to be used for these purposes.

Service Elevator Operation

Tenants may schedule service elevator reservations, loading area parking and after hours access. Contractors requesting services on behalf of a tenant will be referred to the approved tenant contact personnel or the Tower Management Office (TMO). Any access requests by employees, visitors, and vendors etc. that are not on file, or have not been previously approved by the TMO, will be referred to the tenant contact personnel for access approval.
