High-End Vintage Kaoliang Since 1977

TAIPEI 101 adopted the highest standards to launch our first self-branded luxury vintage, TAIPEI 101 Commemorative Liquor, sourced from the 1977 Matsu Distillery's high-end vintage cellaring project of the 1970s. Not only is this rare spirit an international-level gift that can represent Taiwan, it is also a treasure that is worthy to be passed down from generation to generation.

The TAIPEI 101 Commemorative Liquor was created by following the ancient liquor-making process, using carefully selected high-quality wheat as the starter culture, then pressed into blocks after adding water and slow fermented to produce a pure and fragrant liquor. In addition, carefully selected sorghum varieties and the natural pure water of the region were used and the liquor was made according to the traditional “double-distilling, double-aging” distillation and blending process by well-experienced master distillers. The result is a smooth-bodied kaoliang infused with an elegant and delicate aroma, which offers a sweetness on the palate ending with a lingering note—a classic out of today's premium baijiu liquors.

TAIPEI 101's high-end vintage kaoliang was discovered by coincidence when the “forgotten treasures” of the Matsu Distillery were unearthed! At the time, as a part of Matsu Distillery's high-end vintage cellaring project of the 1970s, a batch of the best quality kaoliang was carefully selected and stored in the Baba Tunnel at a constant temperature and high-humidity. The process of slow aging has elevated the quality of the liquor to the state of the sublime! When the bottle is opened, the aroma of the kaoliang fills the room, often dazzling the drinkers after the first sip. It has been described as “warm and mellow in the mouth, followed by a sweet aftertaste that leaves a lingering fragrance on the palate”, and “the highest collector-grade liquor in the world of baijiu!”
